You probably know the problem: one 2CV runs very smoothly, whereas another will not budge. You've tried everything: ignition, different carburettor jets, valve clearance settings ... Why is this?
When we talk about tuning an engine, the first thing one does (in racing) is to mount an adjustable camshaft sprocket. This allows a relatively cheap way to win power. You probably know that original engines may have up to a 6° crankshaft setting difference between the camshaft and crankshaft. By this we mean that the piston has either been over TDC or has not reached TDC completely. It is very important that the inlet and outlet valve are being controlled at the right time. In the 2CV this has always been a problem.
We have developed special tools to accurately set the camshaft to the crankshaft with a maximum difference of 0.25 degrees.
!!! Note: This camshaft is only suitable for electronic ignition. (Ignition points are no longer compatible with this camshaft!)
